Christmas Card

Today's post is of a card I created as part of this past Friday's Christmas card class. Half of the class chose the garden green background and the other half chose the soft suede background. I prefer the soft suede.

All of the Designer Series Papers are retired, but I was glad to still be able to put it to good use. The stamp I used in the center is from the "Word Play" stamp set. I used Versamark and SU gold embossing powder to emboss the sentiment. The Ornament Punch was used along with the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder for the Real Red/Garden Green/Soft Suede ornaments. The Scallop Trim Border Punch was used just below and just above the music notes paper. Please disregard the location of the strings hanging down in gold on the card with the garden green background - that was the first sample and I did not place them properly. The first photo is correct. The final touch was the Real Red 5/8" Satin Ribbon.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. I sure did.

I hope to be posting more often come January (oh yes, a New Year's Resolution).

Back soon.

Gift Set

Today's post is a gift that I made at a class I went to recently. My good friend and very talented fellow Demonstrator, Sandy Mathis created this set. You can visit Sandy's blog at www.stampwithsandy.com.

I will be recreating a similar set at my class on December 16th using Christmas stamps from Stampin' Up!. Stay tuned for that sample to be posted soon.

Enjoy your week.

1st Birthday for a Baby Girl

Today's post is a card I made last month for my cousin's daughter who celebrated her 1st birthday.  The invitation was so adorable with the frog on the lily pad (when I find it I will post it).  When I saw this (Mr. Froggie) created by Debbie Henderson I knew that was going to be the card.  It was a lot of fun using all the punches to create this cute card.

Enjoy your day!

Today's card is a swap card that I made when I attended Terri's team meeting earlier this week.  It was an awesome meeting and I thank Terri for inviting me.  Later this week I will be posting some of the other swaps that I received at the team meeting.

Today's card can be recreated in so many different shades by changing the cardstock and combining it with a patterned Designer Series Paper.  Did you know that this month Stampin' Up! is having a promotion - buy 3 packs of Designer Series Paper and get a 4th FREE.  You can take advantage of this offer by placing an order on my website:  www.scrapsnstamps.stampinup.net or you can email me directly at abay12@verizon.net and I can include your order with my next order.

I CASE'D this card from a card that I saw on Anja's blog "scrappietoo" a long time ago.  She did not use any Stampin' Up! products so I recreated it using ALL Stampin' Up! products and changed it slightly.  I will try to find the original and post the link so you can see the similarities and the changes.  I really love to re-create cards by other paper crafters where there are no Stampin' Up! products used so that I can re-create them using all Stampin' Up products.  If you follow my blog you will find another card using the Chic Boutique stamp set (Eiffel Tower) from which I CASE'D a card by Amy Rohl "ink about me" using only Stampin' Up! products as well.

The Stampin' Up! products used for today's card are as follows:

Cardstock:  Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral
Designer Series Paper:  Paisley Petals #122367 / First Edition Specialty #121878
Ink:  Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral
Stamps: Happy Greetings #123311 wood / #123313 clear (Summer Mini Catalog - expires 8/31/11)
Punches:  Scallop Trim Boarder # 118402 / Full Heart # 119883
Embosslit Dies:  Scalloped Heart of Hearts # 117332 / Beautiful Wings # 118138
Embossing Folder:  Vintage Wallpaper # 120175
Embellishments:    Basic Pearls # 119247 / Baker's Twine # 124262 (white)

1st Birthday Card & Gift Bag

Here is a card I made for a1st Birthday Party for my cousin's daughter, Giuliana.

The designer papers are retired and the stamp sets "Wagon Full of Fun" (cupcake) is retired and the Happy Birthday portion comes from the "All Holidays" stamp set that is retiring as of the July 1st new catalog.

(wish I took the time to take pics with my camera instead of my blackberry since the coloring is so off)

Have a great day.

Anniversary Card

At Friday night's class we used the "Cheers to You" stamp set (retiring) and the "Morning Cup" stamp set (see previous post).

Following is a card using one of the images from "Cheers to You".   Since yesterday was my 17 year wedding anniversary I decided to give it to my husband.

The portion of the card with the champagne glasses and the silver paper and dots came from Jen Sanns' idea on a card she did a long time ago.  The rest of the card using the Scallop Trim Border punch, the Finial Press embossing folder along with the Organza ribbon and Rhinestone were my added touches to glam the card up a bit.

Enjoy your day.

Where has the time gone...

Time has slipped away from me.  I realized that I never posted my May class calendar and it is already the second week of June - unbelievable - where did half a year go?  My daughter is just finishing her first year of high school and it feels like yesterday when we were attending her 8th grade graduation.

We have had beautiful weather here in Long Island since Memorial Day weekend.  My husband, Charlie and my daughter, Cristina both work at the beach so we are always hoping for beautiful weekends during the summer months.  So far, the weather is on our side.

I hope you all have a wonderful summer.  For now, I'll leave you with my June and July class schedules.

MORNING CUP

I created this card quickly after I had seen a similar card on Deb Fearns blog here.  I case'd the teapot and cup from Deb's card and I used the same designer series paper line "Autumn Spice" (retired), but I changed the layout.  The stamp set is "Morning Cup".  I'll be using this card in this coming Friday night's class (6/10/11) along with the "Cheers to You" stamp set.  I'll show you a card from that set tomorrow.

Chic Boutique Card

A while ago I came across a card made by Amy Rohl here and decided to take out my awesome Stampin' Up! sets "Chic Boutique" and "Tiny Tags" and see what I could come up with myself.  It's almost amazing how similar it turned out.  I may still jazz it up a bit, but for now I'm happy with it and I will be using it in my 2/25/11 "Chic Boutique" card class.

Enjoy your evening.

Card for a New Driver

I made a card for our good friend's son that just earned his driver's license.  We thought that he might need a little "gas" money so we'll enclose a gas gift card.  I didn't get a photo of the inside, but it said "time to put away the two wheeler".  I wish I had the "To a Classic" set so that I could have put the stamp of the car on the inside of the card, then I would have said "time to trade in the two-wheeler"...

I got the idea from Ashley Van Camp's card that I saved on my desktop files a long time ago.  Ashley used the "Extreme Surfer" on her card and I used the bike from the "Pedaling Past" set that is retired now.

Have a great day.

"Eataly"

Today we decided to go to "Eataly" in NYC.  It is on 24th Street and 6th Avenue.  It's been getting great reviews in the newspapers and in food magazines so we decided to check it out (that's Cristina on the left - she was freezing and wouldn't let me take the photo again so the strangers in the photo will have to stay - at least the woman we don't know smiled for the camera!!!).

As soon as we walked in the door the smell of the food just makes you want to eat everything in the place and there is a lot.  We did a walk through first so that we could decide where we wanted to eat and what we wanted to purchase to bring home.  It's an awesome shopping experience when you can walk around and shop with a glass of wine in your hand.

We didn't sit for lunch because it was so crowded, so Cristina decided she'd be good with a sandwich.  It was big enough for the three of us to share so that's what we did.  Then we stopped for "gelato" (vanilla & hazelnut - yum!!!).

We purchased a few of our favorite things like homemade "spinach & ricotta" ravioli, fresh mozzarella, fresh ricotta (we love it with pasta & sauce), fresh Rustic bread, pizza with onions and pizza with artichokes & sun dried tomatoes.

Here you can see Charlie and Cristina watching the mozzarella being made.

Living here in Long Island, it is so convenient to spend the day in NYC or even just a few hours.

I hope you enjoyed a wonderful day with your family and friends.
